Gyor with kids – fun way to spend 3 days here

Győr is a small city in the northwest Hungary. It’s a halfway between Budapest and Vienna. It is also the sixth largest city in Hungary. But kids don’t really care about statistics, am I right? It’s what the city has to offer attracts them the most. And who would have thought, Győr is one of that places to cover 3 full days of activities for kids? We already checked it, go ahead and find out on your own.

3-day itinerary

As parents we always need to stretch and adjust our plans to kids. But what if we tailored the trip just for them? So let’s prepare the trip they have always dreamt of. This is what you’re looking for:

DAY 1 – Kimba Elefánt Park + Eat dinner at Barney’s American Diner+ Go evening sightseeing

DAY 2 – The Győr Aquapark

DAY 3 – The Janos Xantus Zoo + Rent a sightseeing boat tour

Kimba Elefánt Park

10 kilometers outside of the city center you can find an extraordinary place full of attractions and surprises. Don’t worry that as an adult you will be bored, it’s a good amount of amusement for a whole family. With the entrance fee you pay for the zoo visit, fun animal shows and amusement park games. There’s a special show scheduled every day, twice or three times during the day. The biggest entertainment that grabbed our attention was definitely a circus show. It was a spectacular show with acrobats, dancers and trained animals.

In addition, the whole park is a small paradise for kids. There’re carousels, bouncy castles, pedàlos go-karts, trampolines, a new giant slide and much more.

TIP: Take cash with you, without it, you will not buy any souvenirs or food.

Barney’s American Diner

I’m pretty sure your kid will more likely eat fries than goulash. So why don’t you look for the American style bar and order some junk food? After all, I believe it’s allowed from time to time.

City tour

The city’s compact size means you can explore it at a leisurely pace. Stroll along the Gyor streets in the Old Town and enjoy the peaceful evening atmosphere. There’s nothing spectacular in the city, so maybe propose ice-creams?

The Győr Aquapark

It’s a top choice, with the focus on adventure and fun. The park is relatively new, so everything feels modern and well-maintained.The kids’ area features a splash zone, a lazy river, and interactive water games. The indoor pool is also adjusted to the little ones. Older children and teens will enjoy the thrilling water slides, which include high-speed slides, looping tubes, and multi-lane racers. And I mean it, older children – the slides are really extreme.

Prices: Family ticket 2+1 costs 14 000 Ft, which is 35 Eur. Adult daily ticket costs 6 500 HUF, which is 17 Eur. Under 18 and retired daily ticket costs 4,500 Ft, which is 12 Eur

The Janos Xantus Zoo

Kids love animals, so zoo is always a good choice to occupy them. Plus, they can learn a lot about exotic animals, find out some interesting facts and participate in a commented tour.

Animals is Gyor are diversified. The Janos Xantus Zoo is a home to exotic animals like the rare white tiger and the aardvark. Did you know that it can dig itself under the earth in minutes and consume up to 50,000 termites in a single night?

Of course, don’t miss the spectacular shows at the Arena, where trainers introduce the zoo’s residents, creating memorable experiences for all ages.

Boat trip

Exploring Győr from the water offers a different perspective on this charming Hungarian city. Boat tours along the Mosoni-Danube and Rába Rivers allow to admire Győr’s architecture in a tranquil setting. Kids may notice things, they did’t pay attention to, when on land. Like the Kossuth Bridge and Jedlik Ányos Bridge. The journey often includes sights such as Radó Island, the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady, and the Bishop’s Castle.

Accommodation

Stay close to the center, and enjoy all the attractions at hand, except the Kimba Elephant Park – anyway it’s necessary to go there by car. We rented two room apartment and it was enough for 2 adults and 2 kids. This is our apartment, we were within walking distance to the aquapark. There’re plenty more options to choose. I’d say don’t hesitate and select your favourite one.
